Old timer

I’ve been a bit tardy on my blog posts again, but to be honest nothing particularly interesting has happened for me to write about. Well I’ve finally found some time and a drop of brain-juice to squeeze one out.

Ziymoo
The seemingly never ending project is still internally complete and almost ready for launch, we are currently testing, bug-fixing and waiting on some external dependancies, being dependancies we are rather dependent on them and so their slowness means slowness on our end too. It is coming tho!

Hi5 is dead to me!
To keep myself informed I felt like trying out Hi5.com, a social network suggested to me by a friend so I signed up for an account last week. If you’ve not tried it, DON’T!! To an outsider it may look like they fixed everything that was broken with myspace, but infact they made pretty much all of the same mistakes and a few other very painful ones.

The ugly, gif-filled profiles, the random errors and IE-only compatibility, it’s all here. You also considered a robot at almost action, adding friends, sending messages and uploading photos all present you with the squiggly text before your action can be completed. I do not like being called a robot!

It even managed to delete all my new found friends overnight completely and then return them from captivity after a couple days. I was planning to work my css magic on my profile and see if i could produce something similar to my Myspace Profile but will not waste my time on it now.

I’m bored of Twitter
It’s not that Twitter isn’t good, I’ve just kinda lost interest. I forget to post on it nearly as often as I do here, it can be a bit slow at times but I don’t think it’s that.

I think the sudden influx in users actually put me off it, I accepted way to many friends requests and the stream just turned into white noise of absolute crap! People talk such rubbish, including me which is fine but 40 people x 20 posts a day = 800 posts!

It’s still interesting to watch the way other people use the site/service and I can think of all kinds of potential uses for it. The power and knowledge contained within that huge flow of information could be used in amazing ways but first it needs tags, filters and groups to help sift through the “I’m going to bed” fluff.

BTW
Thanks for the Free T-shirt Zooppa.com, it rocks!

The past two updates from Apple have seriously hurt my OSX install, are they doing this to ramp up to leopard? I’m going to buy it anyway, there is no need to break Tiger to get me to upgrade!

  5. I’ve never like hi5, but I have to say Virb.com is a lot better and css friendly more than Myspace.

  6. I remember there being a lot of porn on hi5. Have you tried virb? All the geeks are raving about it. tribe is my preferred social networking site, followed by facebook.

You can turn off phone notices in twitter, so that you can just check the site for updates when you’re sufficiently bored. I find the constant sms-ing a little disruptive.

Hi5 sucks but my workmate nagged me to try it out.

    I have a facebook too: http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=508462908

Twitter wise I never had the sms thing turned on, I think for the moment I’ll just watch it and see how it goes.

Mike: Either would be awesome, I’d wear it with pride, or a frosty Ivan one if you make some :D
