A Weekend at Home
It’s been yet another busy week and I’ve not really had a huge amount to blog about.
Still enjoying learning rails, still working all hours of the day and still taking loads of photos, I reached 60,000 views on my flickr this week.
This weekend I decided to travel back to somerset to see my family and meet up with some friends, although I nearly didn’t make it.. On the train home we stopped a few miles before my station, the train manager politely told us that the train in front of ours was on fire!!
So we were routed away from my station (Taunton) and instead to Exeter, 34 miles away! This was at 10pm, well past the bedtime of any bus in Somerset, but I was lucky enough that they station manager at Taunton told my mum what had happened when she came to collect me and she drove to find me!
So I’m having a nice relaxing weekend in the country, life is so much slower here. I went for a walk into town at 9:30am and there was nobody to be found, and the local weekly newspaper touts “biggest edition ever.. 72 pages”, while in london I’m offered 3 different free news papers every day with more content than that!!
The Macbook has not had a good week either, it’s been crashing, getting really hot and then this happened:
The keyboard/wrist rest cover has cracked, I should really sort it out but I’m can’t go without my computer for very long without going a little bit mad, maybe in the new year I’ll get it sorted.
You might have also noticed the Skype button in the sidebar, I’ve been using more and more and it’s quite useful just to show if I’m online or not. Other than that it’s been a slow news week and I’m running on empty, so I’ll just leave you with Amazon’s first dip into Ruby on Rails..
Unspun.. savour it

I have been checking your photos daily mate…theres some really good ones on there

it is nice to get away for a while and just relax. especially after a long month or two of long days at work.
sorry ’bout the mac. the problem with the wrist rest has nothing to do with the crashes and lock ups right?
i am on skype all the time. i’m enjoying the free calls we get from US to US phones here. it runs out dec 31st though. i’ll might have to get a real phone number to go with all the skype out minutes i’ve been saving up.

Today my MacBook (bought 2nov06) developed the problem of the wrist deck splitting in the same place at the edge. I think the failure is due to a fault line where it joins the inside edge of the outer case. Also the lid deck above the iSight is lifting away from the case. I’m returning my MacBook via an Apple Store having spoken to their technical support team who hadn’t come across the problem before. Hopefully our other MacBook won’t go the same way…..
