A Rough Week
It’s been a whole week since I failed my driving test and lost someone very close to me. It certainly has not been an easy week either.
My mood and motivation have been up and down like an atomic Yo-Yo.
I’ve tried to take my mind of things by pouring all of my energy into web development.
I was under the impression that I hadn’t done a huge amount of anything this week but now that I look back at, it has actually been pretty productive…
- I’ve designed and created AndrewOnRails.com from scratch, and then posted a useful article every day and created a pretty useful resources page too.
- Teabass has been completely revised, all the pages have been improved, tweaked and customized the theme and doing loads of posts as well.
- Done the Rapnix.com theme, again completely from scratch, including the best method of IE6 PNG fixes I’ve done yet (what a pain in the ass that was!!), it still needs a couple like tweaks but I think Rappy is very happy with it, I’m just becoming a bit of a perfectionist with websites, I want everything to look just right.
- I’ve also put Fishbitt.com back on my todo list. Using Wordpress as a CMS, I’ve made a very minimal theme and I’m slowly filling pages with content. The Fishbitt logo is in the final stages of design, I’m 90% sure it will be finished next week, and is looking pretty damn awesome!
There are a lot of pages on Fishbitt that you can’t see at the moment, I think I’m up to about 17, but there is not much point in publicizing them until the whole site is nearing completion.
And the list goes on..
I’ve also been working on a paid project, unfortunatly I can’t really talk about it much, I’m doing it on Ruby on Rails, which has not been as easy has I hoped.
I’ll explain more over at AndrewOnRails later this eve, the gist being that because Rails has only been around for 2 years, the documentation is a little sparse in places.
Being almost completely new to web programming there are a few important things that I feel the core Ruby on Rails team seem to consider common knowledge when writing their books, which has often left me struggling to work out the step the glossed over leading to many an hour of confusion and frustration.
- FrostyIvan.co.uk is on the too, although I have not done much more than transfer the hosting and install wordpress. It’s going to be a tumblelog for my great friend Mike.
- Another paid project I’ve started is Canaryflights.net, I’ve thrown up a quick holding page today, there is not going to be anything much interesting there for good couple of months tho.
- And yesterday I signed back up to myspace… myspace.com/andrewonrails
Uugh, I known.. shocking isn’t it
Despite my constant workload I still can’t keep my mind off last week, I’ve been feeling pretty low which is terrible for my motivation.
Some harmless flirting should help to build up my self confidence and help me forget about the gapping whole in my life, at least for a while.
I’ve slowly been building up a profile on a single Div overlay, it’s looking ok, at least until I can think of something cool to do with it.
And despite all that work I still want more!!
Want a custom Wordpress theme?
Send me an email
More details on that tomorrow

I have to be honest, your Myspace is one of the coolest I have ever seen. You should probably sell your design skills for the ugly myspacers!
