thebeststuffintheworld.com is my new favourite website, if you havn’t seen it yet I urge you to visit, sign up and add your best stuff.
It’s the perfect mix of web 2.0 styles and technologies, as well as a good handful of social stuff and really really addictive. My profile has a list of all the stuff I think is the best including Darkplace, Ruby on Rails and Boobs!
I can’t sing it’s praises enough, this is what web 2.0 is sposed to be like!
I’ve been working like a dog this week, and had very little time to do anything other than design due to the looming deadline. So after a bit of a quiet spot… here is a blog post, oh and I have some pretty cool stuff to show off!!
New T-shirts I got a couple new t-shirts from Jinx, both pretty geeky of course!
I’ve taken to ordering nearly all of my t-shirts from america now, there is a huge amount more choice and they cost half as much, even with the delivery. If anyone knows any other good geeky t-shirt sites please do shout them out!
Sony K800i Finally have a new mobile telephone too.
I’m usually the kind of person that says I want a phone to make phone calls and nothing else, but with the GPRS coverage in London and the offer of unlimited internet usage for £7 per month I couldn’t say not!
The camera also works really well, you can see some of the photos I’ve taken with it here. It also has a RSS reader which is just perfect for checking the news on the train
The only complaint I have with it so far is that the battery life is a bit pants, at least for the amount that I’m using it, lasting about 2-3 days between charges.
Flash Book Yep I’m jumping on the Flash Train.
We are going to need some flash stuff at work in the next week or two, so it’s time to get learning!
It’s pretty interesting, especially the video stuff, although the more I read into it the more it seems like programming and less like designing. The Actionscript stuff has a whole book to itself as well, which might be worth picking up.
Darkplace DVD And the most awesome show ever made has finally come out on DEANVD!!
I absolutely love this show, and the dvd does it proud, the extras are worth the £12 alone.
If you havn’t seen/heard of darkplace you can watch a full episode here, then run out and buy the DVD right now or order it from PLAY.com (£12 + free delivery)!!
In my boredom yesterday I signed up to facebook, you can see my profile here.
It’s much nicer to use than any of the other social networking sites, but it really does lack customisation, everyones profile looks pretty much the same, until the change that I doubt it will ever make a dent in myspace.
We’ve reached the end of another week, xmas is drawing closer every day along with our looming deadline, it seems like we completely skipped autumn this year and have jumped straight into a freezing winter.
I’ve been finding it quite hard to switch off recently, there are always ideas and thoughts mulling over in my mind and it’s really starting to tire me out. I love what I do, I think that maybe why it’s always on my mind but I think I need to learn how to get away from it, have a break and stop thinking about work for a few hours a day.
What to do to unwind or take your mind off work?
On a huge tangent, my mum has starting using instant messaging, which is pretty cool. What I’ve noticed from only talking to my mum verbally for 22 years is how different she seems on MSN, I can’t fit the words to her voice, it really seems like a completely different person.
Makes me wonder what i sound like to other people, and how different it is to actually talking to me.. something for you to ponder, do you type like you talk?
And one last question.. I’m trying to get a microphone that I can use to record meetings with, the kind of one lots of people can sit around and talk into and that will work with my Macbook plus it a reasonable price. Any suggestions?
