1000th Flickr Photo

Today marks my 1000th Flickr photo, I knew it was coming so I made sure I put something good there!
The Reason for the photo?
After playing Day of Defeat: Source this morning and having quite a lot of abuse hurled at me by a rather clueless player, I thought this photo was apt.
I don’t want to toot my own trumpet too much, but I’m getting pretty good at DoD and I’ve kinda reached a level where I get regularly called a cheat and a n00b because I’m doing much better than some of the other players on the server.
This used to be more of a Counter Strike thing, I never really noticed it too much in DoD, the community was nice and friendly and everyone respected the pro’s rather than hurling abuse at them.
But I fear that after the flurry of “Free DoD Weekends” many counter strike players have started to play DoD regularly and so the good community begins to fall away.
But enough moaning!
I’m working on a couple websites at the moment, as well as moving LaurenF.net onto Rails, I should have a tumblelog theme to add to my portfolio within a couple days.

Hey Andrew I was wondering if you use Windows Live Writer or you just apply drop shadows to all the images you post.
lol sorry for the randomness.

I’ve been doing it manually in photoshop, I really should write a script for it, I do the same thing every time!
In fact I might try that at the weekend!

font that big? Uh-oh… someone’s been holding ctrl while scrolling the MMB

No there is definatly something wrong with your CSS there, it’s very large in both Firefox and IE6 on my pc and on a few other peoples computers that i asked.
Maybe you left a tag open somewhere?
Andrew on August 17, 2006 4:44 pm
Ok thanks for the heads up I’ll look for it.

WOAH OMG I just looked at it in IE and its crazy… maybe thats why my visitor number has gone down so much…
Daniel Swiecki on August 17, 2006 4:52 pm
Yeah, it looks a bit of a mess being so large, I’d check to see if your CSS validates properly.

Is the tumblelog theme going to be Public or are you doing as a project for someone?
I’ve never played DoD, and probably won’t.. how many people are normally online? I would probably prefer Unreal Tournament.

I’m doing it for someone else, but they are not paying for it, so I may make it free as well.
There are a fair few players on DoD, around 4,000 but no-where near the amount playing CS tho (50,000)
I think that may be why the community is better than CS, just because it is less popular.. a bit like Ruby on Rails
You can see the player and server stats here: http://steampowered.com/status/game_stats.html

I agree with Robert, I love UT2004. Then again, these days gaming is a thing of the past. Good luck with your projects!
